Tattletale bad ending3/21/2023 I think your character is unaware of all this. You and Tattles are the bait to keep Mama from finding out. Maybe not plausible, but possible: the game of hide and seek is actually being used to allow the yellow time to find more "friends" for the party. I think what's really happening here might be interesting. In this night, you play Hide and seek while avoiding Mama. In Night 4, you find him hanging out with his yellow friend in the garage. After you go to bed and are safe from Mama, he leaves to find help. I think what is really happening here is he's just trying to get out of sight. When you take him to her he is dismayed she's not there before saying he is sleepy. We know he wasn't there nor was there a mess before you go to the basement either, so he did it quickly. I think that he heard her reading her story to you in the basement - how else would he know Mama was down there? If your character can hear her grinding sound from his bedroom, then I think he can hear her talking from upstairs. You go up to him and he asks to see Mama. I think there's a possibility that the mess Tattles makes in this chapter and the loud laughing he does is to draw you to him, away from Mama. I think this means that she is haunting the Tattletail toys. She says no matter where her children go, she will always find them. I think Mama's story is meant to sort of explain not only how she works in the game and how to beat her, but also how she works with the children. You wrap him up and Mama seems to threaten you again in the distance before the lights come back. He asks to see Mama, but when you go back she is missing. She reads her story, you head back upstairs where Tattletail has made a mess and a racket, laughing. So with night 3 started the first thing you do is meet Mama face to face. Secondly, we are shown Mama has found your home, found the Tattletail you've found, and she's not leaving anytime soon. From a story context, we are shown two things: Tattletail is mischevious, naughty, and can escape his box on his own. Besides showing us the last mechanics it also introduces us to a glimpse at Mama. Night 2 begins with you finding Tattletail in the washer and you charge him, also getting your flashlight. In other words, while he seems to be sentient, he still has to give in to these urges, even when you may be in dire trouble. He is compelled to want these things after a certain period of playtime and will begin to demand them. But while we are talking about mechanics, I'm going to say that I believe him wanting to be brushed and fed a treat is a result of his programming. We are shown that the kid is excited for Tattletail. From a story context nothing important really happens here. They box him up and wrap him back up so their parents don't notice before hurrying to bed. On the first night your character is merely introduced to the main Tattletail (who I will occasionally refer to as Tattles through the rest of this), how to feed and groom him. So here's my theory - there is a subtext of the conflict between the Tattletails and Mama and you, like the child, are left ignorant of it up until the fourth night. Mama is based on Teddy Ruxpin, the Tattletails in general are based on Furby. Your child can't really be older than 10ish and are probably as young as 5. And so each night they sneak out of their bed and go to play with Tattletail. You play a child who is very excited because Tattletail is the coolest toy on the block. The story takes place in the late 90s in the days leading up to Christmas. The description on Steam talks about her wanting eyeballs. In the tape we know Mama possibly killed, maimed, or wounded at least two people on the set of the commercial. I'll probably just say she's some demonic or ghostly entity possessing the toy. That she can teleport around and is trying to get rid of you so she can keep her 'children.' And we know the only way to get rid of her is via seance. Mama Tattletail is not only sentient and evil, but there's something sinister and supernatural behind her. Some questions still puzzle me: how sentient are they? Why are they sentient? What is their relationship with Mama Tattletail? It is obvious they are trying to banish Mama with the seance and in the good ending, Tattletail rewards you with his tag (states he likes you a lot), a golden flashlight, and says thank you. But I began to think, knowing this, does it change the way we could look at the rest of the game? I found the "party" at the end funny, mainly because there didn't seem to be any leadup to the pentagram and sinister ritual. I was very bored at work yesterday and really got to thinking about this game.
